About Brian Burns

After graduating cum laude from the University of Memphis Cecil C. Humphries School of Law in 2016, I passed the Illinois bar and started worked in-house at the Federal Election Commission and then at a consulting firm in D.C. before moving back home to Chicago to work at a financial technology startup. For the past several years, I have focused my legal career exclussively on Family Law.

I created Burns Law P.C. in 2024 to so that I could leverage my professional and technical skills to provide top tier service to clients at an affordable price. I am also a self-taught computer programmer and have used my technology skills to streamline processes at Burns Law P.C. so that the client stays informed on their matter and ultimately walks away with the best result possible at an affordable price.

If you are going through a divorce or difficult family situation and are looking for an Attorney who will fight for you and keep you informed every step of the way, please send me an email. I am currently accepting new clients and would love to learn more about you and your needs.

affordable pricing options

Pro-Se PLUS (from $300) In law, "Pro Se" means that a person is representing themselves in court (I will not be representing you). This limited scope engagement includes a 1 hr initial consult where I will explain court proceedures and provide guidance on getting started. I can also help you draft several of the most common pleadings and final agreements so that you are ready to represent yourself effectively.

Flat Fee(s) Divorce (from $2,500) For straightforward cases, I offer a Flat Fee option that includes filing standardized pleadings and representing you in court. While I cannot gaurantee that the Flat Fee will be sufficient to complete your case, we provide clear contingencies and pre-priced 'add-on' services so that you know how much certain legal 'detours' will cost ahead of time.

Classic Retainer(from $3,500) For most cases, a standard retainer agreement is the best option. By paying your initial retainer, you have pre-paid for ("retained") my time to work on your matter. This means that I will be able to move quicker to act on your behalf and prioritize your case.
